Are you ready to navigate and lead in the burgeoning field of autonomous robotics?

In an era of rapid technological advancement, the global market for mobile robotics is experiencing unprecedented growth, with far-reaching implications across a multitude of industries including manufacturing, transportation, healthcare, and retail. This surge in demand for smart, autonomous systems is reshaping the way we live and work, driving the need for professionals to be adept at the design, development, and application of mobile robotic solutions.

This course is specifically tailored for professionals in Singapore, aiming to equip them with the cutting-edge skills required to navigate and lead in the emerging field of autonomous robotics. With a special emphasis on autonomous vehicles and robots, the course comprehensively explores the technologies and principles underpinning these revolutionary systems.

Autonomous vehicles, such as self-driving cars, stand at the forefront of this technological wave, symbolising the immense potential and growing demand for autonomous driving technology. These innovations are transforming industries and paving the way for significant economic growth and efficiency gains. In Singapore, the push towards autonomous mobility is exemplified by initiatives like driverless buses, which are aligned with Singapore's Smart Nation vision. This course will also delve into the intricacies of these developments, providing participants with a deep understanding of the mechanics, ethics, and potential of autonomous vehicles in shaping the future.

This course stands out from other robotics courses by emphasising practical and hands-on learning. Its contents are relevant to real-life applications, including workshops and assessments to reinforce learning.

Course Content

  • Introduction to Autonomous Robots and Mobility: Gain foundational knowledge about autonomous robots and their applications in various sectors.
  • Systems Engineering for Autonomous Systems: Learn the principles of systems engineering as applied to autonomous systems.
  • Technical Fundamentals of Autonomous Systems: Understand the core technologies and standards in autonomous robotics.
  • Advanced Technologies for Autonomous Vehicles: Explore cutting-edge technologies used in autonomous vehicle systems.
  • Development of Autonomous Vehicle Systems: Delve into the process of developing robust autonomous vehicle systems.
  • Minimum Viable Product (MVP) Design & Development: Learn to design and develop MVPs for autonomous robotics and vehicle projects.

You will gain practical experience through scenario-based case studies and hands-on sessions. Course highlights include applying state-of-the-art hand guiding technology on an OpenManipulator-X robotic arm, physically configuring a ROS-enabled TurtleBot3 using LIDAR technology for SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping) and autonomous navigation, and integrating the TurtleBot3 with the OpenManipulator-X to create a comprehensive autonomous system (as depicted below).

This course is part of the Artificial Intelligence series and Graduate Certificate in Intelligent Robotic Systems Series offered by NUS-ISS.
